At orsa credit union, the safety and well-being of young people is central to everything we do. Our decision to launch "Where's My Allowance" on Roblox was made thoughtfully and with care—and we are committed to being transparent about why we chose this platform and how we approach safety within it.
We recognize that conversations around youth safety on digital platforms are important, and we welcome them. Roblox has invested significantly in safety infrastructure, including age-based content controls, proactive 24/7 moderation, parental controls, and partnerships with child safety experts. These are not features we take for granted—they are part of why we chose Roblox as the right environment for a financial education experience designed for young people. In April 2026, Roblox announced new age-based account types launching in June 2026 that further strengthen the platform’s safety framework. We welcome this evolution. It reflects the same values we build into Where’s My Allowance from the start.
Our experience, Where's My Allowance, is designed to be educational, purposeful, and age-appropriate. It exists to help young people build familiarity and confidence with financial concepts in a space where they already spend time. We believe meeting the next generation where they are, with intention and responsibility, is part of what it means to be a human-first financial institution.

Where's My Allowance
We took this decision seriously. Roblox has built one of the most robust youth safety frameworks of any digital platform, including thousands of trained moderators monitoring the platform around the clock, age-based chat permissions and content filters, parental controls that allow caregivers to customize their child's experience, and partnerships with leading child safety organizations. We believe thoughtful engagement in digital spaces, rather than absence from them, is how trusted institutions can have a positive impact on where young people spend time.
Roblox applies age-based default settings that determine what content users can access and how they can communicate. Notably, Roblox has moved beyond self-reported age by implementing age estimation technology, which more accurately assigns appropriate settings to users rather than relying on what they enter themselves. Content on the platform carries maturity labels so families can make informed choices. Roblox also offers robust parental controls that allow parents and caregivers to manage chat settings, restrict content, and monitor activity. A recently launched chat rephrasing feature helps reduce profanity in conversations while preserving the user's meaning, keeping interactions more civil. Their safety team operates 24/7 using both trained professionals and technology to identify and address violations of their published Community Standards. In February 2026, Roblox also launched an inaugural Global Parent Council and Parent Champions Program, reflecting their ongoing, active investment in family-centered safety. In June 2026, Roblox will introduce two new age-based account types — Roblox Kids (ages 5–8) and Roblox Select (ages 9–15) — which align content access, chat settings, and parental controls even more closely with each child's age. "Where's My Allowance" is a branded, educational experience that allows users to explore a virtual orsa credit union branch, take on roles as tellers or member experience specialists, open and manage virtual accounts, and complete budgeting and savings challenges. The experience was designed to be engaging and age-appropriate. It does not include violence, inappropriate content, or anything outside the scope of financial literacy learning.
Roblox provides a full suite of parental controls that allow caregivers to set content restrictions, manage communication settings, and review their child's activity. We also encourage families to have open conversations with their children about online safety, including not sharing personal information and knowing how to report and block other users if needed—guidance Roblox's own Teen Council reinforces.
No. The "Where's My Allowance" experience operates entirely within the Roblox platform. orsa does not collect personal data from users through the Roblox experience. All activity, virtual accounts, and in-game currency exist solely within the Roblox environment.
Yes, and it's good news. In June 2026, Roblox will introduce Roblox Kids (ages 5–8) and Roblox Select (ages 9–15), two new account types that match content access and communication settings even more precisely to each child's age. Where's My Allowance holds a Minimal content rating—the lowest maturity classification on the platform—which means every youth age group will continue to have full access to our experience. Nothing about the game itself is changing. We designed Where's My Allowance to be safe, structured, and purposeful from day one, and these platform updates reflect exactly that kind of commitment to young people.
For 75 years, orsa has been committed to strengthening Michigan communities and that includes preparing the next generation for financial independence. Our student-run credit union program already operates in more than 50 Michigan schools. The Roblox experience extends that same hands-on philosophy into a digital environment, reaching young people beyond geographic limitations. We see this as a natural evolution of that work.
