Teen Checking FAQ
No. orsa Teen Checking Accounts can be opened either with a parent/joint owner or by the teen on their own. We only ask that the teen be age 13 or above.
If your family chooses to open with a joint owner, like mom or dad, they can access and monitor the account through digital banking and other parental controls. Which is super helpful for guidance as you learn to manage your cash.
Why the choice? Our Teen Checking Accounts are meant to meet you where you’re at. So, either way you want to do it, it's up to you and your family to make the choice that works best for you.
Yes. This is a monthly-fee-free checking account designed to keep money in your account! Because teens who are just starting off need all the support they can get, that means no monthly fees, no maintenance fee, and no minimum balance to keep the account open. That said, it takes just $5 and 5 minutes to get started opening your account and your membership!
orsa Bennys debit card rewards offer rewards to our members who use a debit card! Enrolled members automatically receive 1 point for every $100 spent, with even more points stacked on top for completing monthly challenges sent by email.
When you complete a debit card monthly challenge offer (sent via email),you’ll earn a certificate redeemable for your choice of a FREE gift card through the Bennys website at orsabennys.org/Reward.

Great question! Depending on how you want to handle it, a couple things can happen:
- When you turn 18+ you can request to convert your Teen Checking Account into full-featured adult CloseEnuff® Checking.
- At age 24 your orsa Teen Checking Account will automatically convert to full-featured adult CloseEnuff Checking.
Either option is pretty great, because CloseEnuff Checking is a cashflow boosting checking account that we think is the best checking account in Michigan! Plus, when you start getting paychecks, it gives you access to fast & easy direct deposit tools and Early Pay, which gets you your paycheck up to two days earlier! Huzzah!
You don’t have to, but we highly recommend it. Not only will holding a Teen Savings Account help you learn key savings habits as you save for the future, but it also gives you the ability to use grow & give to turn spare change into round up savings, automatically!

If we need to contact you, we will NEVER ask for personal, account, or card information. This includes card numbers, PINs, security codes, login information, etc. Please do not give this information out to anyone.
